About Me

June 21, 2017

I’m an American born, Canadian raised, culturally Filipino journalist based in Manila, Philippines. My diverse background gives me a unique perspective on Southeast Asian affairs, which I write about for Foreign PolicyDevex, Maclean’s: Canada’s largest news magazine, SciDev.net, the world’s leading news source on science and technology for global development, and other publications.

Assignments took me from the bustling streets of Bangkok to the typhoon-battered shores of Tacloban, to the quaint homes of stay-at-home fathers living in the Philippines, the most conservative Catholic country in the world.

I hold a graduate diploma in journalism from Concordia University and a BA in history and international development from McGill University, both located in Montreal, Canada.
