About Me

June 21, 2017

I’m an American born, Canadian raised, culturally Filipino journalist based in Manila, Philippines. My diverse background gives me a unique perspective on Southeast Asian affairs, which I write about for Foreign PolicyDevex, Maclean’s: Canada’s largest news magazine,, the world’s leading news source on science and technology for global development, and other publications.

Assignments took me from the bustling streets of Bangkok to the typhoon-battered shores of Tacloban, to the quaint homes of stay-at-home fathers living in the Philippines, the most conservative Catholic country in the world.

I hold a graduate diploma in journalism from Concordia University and a BA in history and international development from McGill University, both located in Montreal, Canada.
